
April 2013 - "A Mind/Body Approach to the Management of Chronic Pain" with Ellen Slawsby, Ph.D. We are the producers on this exciting webinar that will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2013 webinar from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. EST. This webinar will help to inform participants about the many issues that pain patients face and the ways that mind/body and cognitive behavioral techniques can be utilized to help improve the quality of patients' lives. The goal is to help patients learn how to use skills to manage their pain better and hopefully decrease the intensity, duration, and disruption caused by their pain. Participants will learn about the fight or flight response and the relaxation response and learn how to help guide patients in activity scheduling/pacing and cognitive restructuring to help decrease pain and depression as well as understand their pain profile better so they can improve their pain management. Ellen A. Slawsby, PhD is the Director, Mind/Body Chronic Pain Service & Staff Psychotherapist with the Benson Henry Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Slawsby is director of the Mind/Body Chronic Pain Service and provides individual therapy, specializing in individuals with chronic illness, chronic fatigue, or pain. She received her MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. With the BHI since 1996, she is also a researcher and clinical trainer at the Institute and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Slawsby has published and presented research on chronic medical illness and infertility. Cost is $30
